About This Archive

Atlas of Iran is an independent digital memorial archive dedicated to preserving the memory of individuals who lost their lives during Iran's Lion-and-Sun revolution.

The project seeks to document names, ages, hometowns, and personal details of those who were killed during or in connection with Iran’s Lion-and-Sun revolution calling for freedom, dignity, and basic human rights. By preserving these records, the archive aims to ensure that the lives behind the statistics remain visible in historical memory.

Each individual documented in the archive represents a life with aspirations, families, professions, and personal stories. The goal of this project is to restore that human dimension and protect these memories from fading or historical forgetting.

Sources and Documentation

Much of the information compiled in the archive is derived from publicly available reporting and documentation produced by journalists, researchers, and human-rights investigators.

One of the primary reference sources includes broadcasts by Morad Vaisi, an Iranian journalist and political analyst who serves as Senior Iran Analyst at Iran International.

In several public YouTube broadcasts, Vaisi has read and documented lists of individuals killed during Iran's Lion-and-Sun revolution, identifying each person as a “child of Iran” and presenting available information such as:

  • Name
  • Age
  • Hometown
  • Occupation
  • Personal background

Atlas of Iran uses this and other publicly available documentation as reference material for historical archiving.

This project operates independently and is not affiliated with Iran International or with Morad Vaisi.

Purpose of the Project

The archive exists to serve several purposes:

  • Preserving historical memory
  • Supporting human-rights documentation
  • Providing a structured historical record
  • Ensuring that victims are remembered as individuals, not just numbers

By compiling these records in a single archive, the project aims to contribute to long-term historical documentation and collective remembrance.

Project Creator

Atlas of Iran was conceived, designed, and developed by Sina.

Sina works as a senior computational scientist and created this project as an independent initiative to preserve the memory of individuals who lost their lives during periods of political unrest in Iran.

The archive combines historical documentation with modern web technologies in order to create a permanent, secure, and accessible digital memorial.

The project’s design, development, and data curation were carried out independently with the goal of producing a respectful and reliable historical archive.

Ongoing Development

Atlas of Iran is an evolving archive. Additional records, documentation, and contextual information may be added as new information becomes available.

Visitors are encouraged to contribute responsibly by submitting corrections, documentation, or memorial notes through the forms available in the archive.
